Trinidad to Clam Beach Walk & Run, Feb 2.
An unusual race that always ends in a splash. After going through Trinidad, a picturesque fishing village five hours north of San Francisco, the course showcases an exceptionally beautiful stretch of the Redwood Coast. Then it crosses the Little River at low tide with a dramatic finale at Clam Beach. There are 8.75-mile, 5.75-mile and 3-mile races. Location: Trinidad. Start times: Noon and 1pm. Fee: $20 and up.

Redwood Coast Jazz Festival, Mar 22-25. Sway and swing to four days of traditional Dixieland Jazz, Swing and Calypso. This 22nd annual event includes food, drinks, dancing and lots of activities throughout Old Town Eureka. Location: Eureka. Admission: Free events to $80 for all-weekend passes.
