PAHRUMP – Events:
Farmer’s Market,  Every Saturday until October
. Locally grown produce and handcrafts for sale. Hours: 8am until everything is sold. Location: Petrack Park.  
United Way Luau, Aug 23. This annual fund-raising event for the United Way features authentic Hawaiian food and music. Location: Honeysuckle Park.
Wild West Extravanza and Pony Express Trail Ride, Sep 20-21. This fun, family event features an old west themed main street with vendors, live entertainment and delivery of mail by the Pony Express Trail Riders. Location: Saddlewest Hotel and Casino parking lot. Hours: 9am-11pm.

The Pahrump Gunfighters perform
at the Wild West Extravaganza,

. Join the Pahrump Gunfighters as they present re-enactments and skits on “what might have happened” in the old west. Founded in 2002 with the motto of “Keeping the Old West Alive” the Pahrump Gunfighters perform the last Sunday of the

 

photomonth in April, May, June, October, November and December at their town of “Dusty Flats” located at the Stagestop Saloon and Casino on Stagecoach and Blagg.The Gunfighters are regular participants in the annual Wild West Extravaganza in September and in the annual “Gathering of the Gunfighters” competition in Yuma, Arizona. 
There is no admission fee for these performances, but they do ask for donations. Monies received are used to purchase their supplies and to support local Pahrump charitable organization

GOLDFIELD – Historic Goldfield Days Celebration and Land Auction, Aug 15-17. Events include a parade, live music, street dance, old west gunfights and crafts and antiques. There are bus tours of Historic Goldfield, a western barbecue and much more. Come join in the fun and dress up in your turn of the century attire. Location: Crook Avenue and other town locations.

RHYOLITE – Goldwell Open Air Museum

Goldwell Open Air Museum preserves and encourages artistic exploration in and of the Amargosa Desert – an evocative landscape along the eastern edge of Death Valley National Park. The museum provides ongoing maintenance and conservation for the existing sculptures and develops educational and cultural programs to enhance the visitor’s experience of the site. Goldwell Open Air Museum’s Red Barn Art Center is a 2,250-square-foot facility located in the Bullfrog Townsite just a bit southwest of the ghost town of Rhyolite in Nye County, Nevada. The Barn houses a large 1,125 square foot multi-purpose studio and exhibition/performance space, and an intaglio printmaking studio. Future improvements include a writer’s studio and bedroom and kitchen facilities enabling extended onsite stays.
Special events include:

“Return to Desert Island” by Sam Davis, Jul 6-Aug 31. See Sci-fi landscapes and robot dreams from this L.A. based photographer and sculptor. Intermittent outdoor showings of classic sci-fi films will be shown, opening reception takes place on Jul 6 at 2pm.

“Wonder” by Jim Stanford,
Sep 21-Nov 15
. Wonder requires reverie, and reverie requires open mindedness, which is the suspension of all beliefs. This body of work was executed with Adobe® Photoshop®, which allows a form of photomontage that is perfect for illustrating the artist’s sense of wonder. This exhibit was assembled using found images, objects and original photography. Opening Reception takes place on Sep 21, from 2pm-4pm.

The Goldwell Open Air Museum is located in the State of Nevada near the ghost town of Rhyolite and the mining town of Beatty. It is approximately 4 miles west of Beatty off of State Hwy 374, the road that leads to Death Valley. Beatty Nevada is 115 miles north of Las Vegas on Hwy 95.
