Enchanted Forest XC Ski & Snowshoe Area events:
Moonlight Ski & Snowshoe Tour, Jan 7, Feb 4 and Mar 5.
Skiing or snowshoeing by moonlight is an amazing experience. Enjoy some outstanding views, followed by hot drinks, homemade goodies and lots of stories. Location: Enchanted Forest XC Ski & Snowshoe Area.

New Mexico Cup Low O2 Challenge, Jan 28-29. Participants can choose the one-lap, 10km version or the two-lap, 20km version. Bring an extra lung for the Low 02 Challenge. Enchanted Forest’s trails are reminiscent of the old-style of XC ski trails in New England: lots of ups and downs, turns and rhythm changes.

Just Desserts Eat & Ski, Feb 25. The Enchanted Forest offers homemade desserts from fine restaurants in Red River on a 5km course for the enjoyment of skiers and snowshoers. While there is no competition involved, participants are advised not to start too late. Time: 12pm-2pm.

Beach Weeks, Mar 10-25. Torn between two seasons? Ready for the sunshine but not ready to put your skis or snowboard away? Tank tops and hula skirts are spotted frequently zipping down the slopes during this annual event. Grab your coconut oil and get ready for the snow.

Spring Break Fireworks & Torchlight Parade, Mar 14. Delight in the Red River Ski Area’s largest fireworks display of the season. Go to the Lift House for live music and a torchlight parade.

Camp Furlong Day & Cabalgata, Mar 10. Folklorico dancers, mariachi music and a parade led by 100 Mexican Cabalgata horseback riders provide wonderful entertainment. The multicultural festival commemorates the attack in 1916 by troops of Mexican General Pancho Villa on the village of Columbus and adjacent U.S. military camp, and the U.S. response with the Punitive Expedition into Mexico by General Pershing and his soldiers.
