AT THE SALINAS AIR SHOW

It’s a rare day indeed – or a night – when a community event appeals equally to today’s younger generation and that other age group perhaps best described as well-seasoned.
Salinas, one of California’s leading farming communities, has hit on that formula with its extraordinary air show and fireworks display.
Billed as the – the – California International Airshow, this annual event attracts upwards of 45,000 visitors to the city’s municipal airport and surrounding parking lots.
Because Salinas is well known as an agricultural leader, you expect bi-planes in an air show. After all, most crop dusting is done by these twin-winged descendents of the 1930s “barnstormers”. But you might not expect an appearance by the U.S. Navy’s famed Blue Angels jockeying a half-dozen of the loudest, fastest planes ever flown! Talk about head-
spinning, ear-shattering excitement!! The adrenaline never stops flowing...
